On 22 October 2012, Access Info Europe organised a public debate to discuss issues of transparency, participation and lobby regulation.

During the debate an agreement was reached on the need to integrate the principle of transparency throughout

ACCESS INFO EVENT REPORT: WORKSHOP ON CITIZEN LOBBY AND INTEREST GROUP REGULATION
From 3-4 September 2012, a total of 46 citizens participated in the workshop organised by Access Info Europe in Navacerrada, Madrid. Citizens learned about techniques for participation and engagement on the one hand (the Citizen lobby), and on the other hand, the issue of uncontrolled lobbying in Spain was discussed. Standards for lobbying regulation were debated and work groups proposed ideas for a lobby transparency and regulation campaign in Spain.

UPDATE FROM SPINWATCH ON ALTER CITIZENS ACTIVITIES IN THE UK, 9 MAY 2012
The long-awaited launch of the UK government's consultation on its plans for a statutory register of lobbyists marked the beginning of a three month period of activity for SpinWatch. The government's proposals are incredibly weak - weaker than we envisaged - and our strategy has been to: a) make the case for tougher rules; b) ensure that the concerns of people are heard by government c) draw greater numbers of people into the debate.
